Casa Comum

A place for civil society to unite and collaborate

We in civil society lack safe and accessible spaces for advocacy in Brasilia. This puts us at a disadvantage compared to actors from other sectors of society.

This inequality of influence, especially of subalternized groups, weakens the democratic fabric because it makes public debate unbalanced. More active and active civil society means more real democracy.

The Common House was created in Brasilia to be an open, accessible, plural and safe place for civil society organizations, movements and collectives.

We are an articulation space whose specific purpose is to help the democratic field carry out advocacy actions. We are building a community with a social impact on institutional politics, generating positive effects on the exercise of power.

NOTÍCIAS

We were born from the articulation of three partner organizations:

The Advocacy Hub seeks to democratize access to advocacy knowledge among NGOs, civil society movements and collectives

The Afrolatinas Network works for racial equity, strengthening the trajectories, projects and businesses of black people, especially black women

The Procomum Institute encourages citizen innovation and the co-production of policies through creative communities and collaborative methodologies.

OUR SPACE

We offer a functional, shared, accessible structure, with the face of civil society, for social agents to carry out their work, whether in individual positions, small groups or face-to-face or remote meetings.

WHAT WE DO

There is nothing more powerful than bringing people together around common goals

ARTICULATION

Keep an eye on our schedule of events, the purpose of which is to bring people together. Community members will be able to promote their own activities in our space.

FORMATION

We will be holding free courses and training workshops, lectures and discussion groups, with the aim of raising the quality of public debate and contributing to the development of lasting solutions to contemporary problems.

ADVOCACY SUPPORT

Surviving in Brasilia isn't easy! That's why we have developed a series of support services for people and organizations, so that they can carry out their advocacy actions more effectively.

CARE

Who takes care of whom? This question governs the care work we do at Casa Comum, with a focus on promoting the integral health of the members of its community. Today's politics are extremely violent and demand from us additional respect for body, mind and spirit.
